Friends of Flourishes and Anything Goes

Hello and Happy Saturday! This week is an Anything Goes theme.  It's a no host challenge as well.  Keep your eyes open for some amazing projects and likely a mix of old and new images.  I decided to work with a previously released image and love how it turned out.
I sought out the Dad You Rock digital image and worked up a masculine card. These are never easy for me. I embellished very little.  I have a few staples in the corner of my card, really only to hold on my sentiment that I printed on vellum.  It softens the colors on my geode a bit. I distressed the edges of the vellum for interest and called it done.

Now it's time to visit the Friends of Flourishes and see what type of embossing they have done: Davi,GloriaKrenShirleyToni and Vickie.

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Dad You Rock (digital); Paper: Basic Gray, Whisper White, vellum; Ink; Smoky Slate; Accessories: watercolor pencils, aqua brush, white gel pen, stampin' sponge, MM distressing tool, stapler, Linen & Canvas impression plate.

The Perfect...

Hello crafty friends!  As you set out on your Memorial Day weekend adventures, I thought I would bring you another view of a Flourishes lc set called A Mother's Hug. You may have already seen the gorgeous image of the embracing mother and child.  Here you have all the flourishes from the set working together to create a background.
First, I added color to my background paper with distress inks.  I sponged and spritzed and blended until I was content.  Then I began to emboss those flourishes until my background paper was covered.  Some luxurious Flourishes silk ribbon in blue tops my background.  My mats for both the background and the sentiment circle are Flourishes New Leaves card stock.  A doily and some paper flowers complete my look.

Thanks for having a peek!  Have a wonderful weekend.

Details - Stamps: A Mother's Hug (Flourishes, lc); Paper: Very Vanilla, New Leaves collection (Flourishes, lc.); Ink: Versamark, Scattered Straw, Broken China, Crushed Olive; Accessories: Wide Blue silk ribbon (Flourishes, lc), gold embossing powder, heat tool, Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities, sponge dauber, crystal effects, paper flowers, doily, paper snips, Scor-Tape.

National Wine Day & Ways To Use It

Happy Thursday!  Did you know that it is National Wine Day?  The folks on Splitcoaststampers are offering up a challenge to celebrate.  Lisa is asking crafters to use wine, grapes or vineyards on their project.  You can play along here.

My card features an old set called Watercolor Garden.  It's one of those sets that is just so great that you can't ever part with it.  Let this card be exhibit A!  I don't know where else that I might have found grapes in my stash...but this worked!  I made a clean and simple card...because I love them.  I found the perfect Verve sentiment to go along with it!

Don't forget!  On the Scor-Pal blog, we have a feature called Pinspired.  My teammate, Lois, did her take and tutorial on the gorgeous Double Zig Zag card!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Details - Stamps: Watercolor Garden, Bloom & Grow (Verve); Paper: Whisper White; Ink: Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, Tuxedo Black; Accessories: corner chomper, thin black taffeta, glue dot, sponge dauber, Sakura clear star gel pen.

Everything On Earth

Hello crafty friends!  It's Wednesday and we are halfway to the weekend.  Whew, this time of year is always crazy for me.  I thought I would just take a little time and share a card I made this past weekend.  I had a blast putting this one together with my fun new dies and paper.
This card features a sentiment from the Flourishes digital set called Heartfelt Words.  The sentiment clearly calls for the use of the globe die.  The fact that I got to sponge it all was just a bonus!  I think this would be a perfect anniversary or anytime "love" card.  It's fun to give and flattering to receive!

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Heartfelt Words (Flourishes, lc);  Paper: Whisper White, Black Licorice, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Real Red, DCWV dp; Ink: Pacific Point, River Rock, Riding Hood Red; Accessories: Sissix Heart Framelits, Sissix The Journey die, linen thread, Scor-tape, Stampin' dimensionals.

Clean and Simple and Luscious

I played along with the current CAS challenge to make a card that represents a memory.  Since I just hosted a birthday party for my daughter, I am recalling my own birthday parties.  I mostly had family parties when I was a child.  I had my first friend party when I was about 9 years old and my mother made me a fabulous cake.  I still remember the frosting to this day.
It had a gorgeous swirled frosting of about 4 or 5 different pastels.  Those pastels are represented in the plaid paper of my card.  The cake on my card represents the cake that she made.  I can't actually remember what flavor it was.  The frosting was the strongest part of that memory!

Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!

Details - Stamps: Luscious Layers digital (Flourishes); Paper: Whisper White, Close to Cocoa, DCWV Sweet matstack; Accessories: Rectangle Nestabilities, Spellbinders Curved Borders, Copic Markers, Sakura clear star gel pen, Recollections rhinestones, square punch, stampin' dimensionals, Scor-tape.

Friends of Flourishes and Embossing

Hello and Happy Saturday! My teammate, Vickie, chose the theme of this week's Friends of Flourishes challenge. This week, we are all using embossing on our cards. Be on the lookout for some new Flourishes images that you are really going to love!
Oh boy!  Look at this amazing cake on a beautiful pedestal!  Yesterday was my daughter's birthday and I can't say that my cupcakes looked anything like this.  However, the 11-year old girls that I was entertaining had zero complaints.  After cupcakes, they ran straight back outside to play until dark!  I re-sized this image and printed it out on vellum.  Next, I flipped it over and colored it on the back of the vellum.  Finally, I chose a card design to showcase that amazing cake.
Lauren Pope illustrated this darling set called Luscious Layers!  It's currently available as a digital set in the Flourishes store. I adore it and can't wait to do some more work with it! Now it's time to visit the Friends of Flourishes and see what type of embossing they have done: Davi,GloriaKrenShirleyToni and Vickie.

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Luscious Layers (Flourishes, lc); Paper: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Vellum; Ink: Pretty in Pink, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade, Basic Gray, Yo Yo Yellow, Melon Mambo and Real Red; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, glue dots, pearls, Argyle embossing folder.

Using Hardware or Metal Accents

This Thursday brings the Ways To Use It challenge.  Sabrina is hostessing and has chosen a hardware or metal accent theme.  I resurrected some Basic Gray Urban Prairie brads from deep within my stash for this card. I matched them up to some poppy colored ink and some fun washi tape.

I recently acquired this fun Verve Stamps set.  I used a couple of sentiments and three images from it.  It's going to be a great and versatile set. I also tried some flat photography.  I like it but don't love my background.  I'll have to work on that.

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Take Note (Verve); Paper: Whisper White; Ink: Tuxedo Black, Poppy Parade; Accessories: Basic Gray Urban Prairie brads, washi tape, Linen & Canvas impression plate, stampin' dimensionals, paper snips.

Halfway Through Scor-Pal's May More Than One Score Challenge

Hi again!  We are halfway through the month of May and this month's Favorite Colors themed More Than One Score challenge.  Be sure to check out the Scor-Pal blog, so that you can see Patti's fabulous treat box.  She will have her tutorial posted today!  Follow her tutorial to create a project fitting this month's theme or create your own interactive project.
I originally shared this on the Scor-Pal blog here.  I have the tutorial here on my blog as well.  As I find with most 3D projects, it looks more complicated that it really is.  For my next project, the longest part of the process was picking out the papers to use together.  Scoring, trimming and taping was the easiest part!
This little treat box was made for the mother of a co-worker of mine who just had surgery.  She has a long road to recovery in front of her.  She is a birthday buddy with my daughter and their birthday is this Friday. I'll ask my co-worker what to fill the little box with and then add a little note.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you will give this month's challenge a try.

And A Happy Mother's Day Was Had

I'm posting late this Mother's Day as I was celebrating with my own mother today.  Then, well you know, a mother's job is never finished so I had to start the laundry and begin to get things ready for the week ahead.
I played along with yesterday's Inspiration Challenge for this card.  I chose this product on Etsy as my inspiration piece. I used a Flourishes, lc image called A Mother's Hug for my card.  At first I stamped this image in black, but it just looked too stark to me.  I stamped it again with Vintage Photo ink and I was off to the races.  I grabbed some more distress inks and colored the rest of the image.  This led to sponging and more sponging.  Finally, I had a complete card.
A big Thank You to my mom and to all the other hard working moms out there.  I hope you enjoyed your Mother's Day. Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps:A Mother's Hug (Flourishes, lc); Paper: Watercolor Paper, Soft Suede, 7 Gypsies Victoria dp; Ink: Vintage Photo, Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, Crushed Olive, Dried Marigold, Spun Sugar, Antique Linen; Accessories: Aqua painter, stampin' sponge, Victoria crochet trim, Rosey photo corners, stampin' dimensionals.

Friends of Flourishes and Silver

Hello and Happy Saturday! It’s Toni bringing you this week’s Friends of Flourishes theme. This week, I have chosen a theme of silver.  Today, you will be treated to some beautiful Flourishes images in combination with the elegance of silver.
I chose the Lily of the Valley as it is May's birth flower. After I stamped and colored my flowers, I embossed the entire panel and sponged some light purple around the edges.  I finished off the flowers with a little bit of sparkle in the centers.
My card features a set called Year of Flowers 2 and the lovely Lily of the Valley image.  This set, illustrated by Beverly Cole, also includes a sunflower, a poppy and a petunia. Now it's time to visit the Friends of Flourishes and see what they have created with clean and simple style: Davi,GloriaKrenShirleyToni and Vickie.

Thanks for stopping by!

Friends of Flourishes, Making a Scene

Hello and Happy Saturday! This week’s Friends of Flourishes theme is Making a Scene.  Our hostess, Shirley, offered up this challenge.  I would say that scenes are not my strong suit, so I went small.  I created a tiny scene and then built my CAS card around it.
Winter Birds is turning out to be one of my new favorite Flourishes lc stamps.  All of the stamps in my tiny scene are from this set.   I also used textured card stock from the Blue Jean Collection and silk ribbon from Flourishes lc.
The rest of my team has created beautiful projects for your viewing pleasure.  Be sure to visit them:  Davi, GloriaKrenShirleyToni (you are here) and Vickie.  While you are visiting, you might also want to see the other stamp sets available from Flourishes, lc.  Thanks for stopping by!

Ways To Use "U" - May The Fourth be With You

Happy Thursday!  It's May 4th and you know what that means.  May The Fourth Be With You:  Star Wars Day!  That is the basis for the Ways To Use It challenge today.  I am the hostess and have asked players to create a card based on "U" or "you" or "ewe".
It's also Teacher Appreciation Week, so these projects fit both the Ways To Use It challenge and my needs at school.  The guitar card is for my daughter's 5th grade teacher.  He plays for his students every Friday. The tags were attached to Rolos covered in a ruler print paper. Our school secretary showed me the project she found on Pinterest and asked me to make the tags.

The guitar card is also based on a pin I saw a few years ago when I realized that my daughter was going to have three male teachers before she finished elementary school. Mind you, I work with all three of these men and do know a little bit about there interests.  If I really got stuck, I do know all of their wives!

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Guitar Card - Stamps: Teachers Count (Verve); Paper: So Safrron, Early Espresso; Ink: Versamark, Pumpkin Pie; Accessories: stampin' sponge, mini brads, gold cording, scor-tape, foam tape, Spellbinders Circles, Spellbinders Ovals, paper snips, Sakura clear star gel pen, Top Note die, clear embossing powder, heat tool.
You Rule Tags - Stamps: Graph Paper PJ (Verve), Chevron Love (Verve), SU alpha set; Paper: Whisper White; Ink: Tuxedo Black, Pool Party; Accessories: Spellbinder die, hole punch, red baker's twine, sponge dauber.

May Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge - Favorite Colors

Hello Crafty Friends!  It's May 1st and the Scor-Pal team is back with another challenge for you. April brought us an Interactive Project and now May brings us the Favorite Colors More Than One Score challenge.  My project is mostly purple with some green accents.  Your project will be different, of course, because you have your own favorite colors.  Be sure to check out what the other design team members on the Scor-Pal Team have created.
I made a mug for this month's challenge.  It was great fun and not hard at all.  I die cut the handle with my Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities, scored the handle and taped the sides of the oval to itself before adhering it to the mug.  The really nice thing about this project is that it makes great gift packaging.  You really could put just about anything into it.

I want to give a big shout out to all you Scor-Pal fans! Last month, we asked folks to follow the Scor-Pal blog so that we could tip over the 1000 mark.  We did..thanks to you!  Another thanks for stopping by my blog today.

Details - Stamps: So Happy For You (SU); Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Black Licorice, Whisper White, Momenta dp; Ink: Tuxedo Black, Melon Mambo, Old Olive; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, paper snips, Spellbinders Nestabilities, sponge dauber, stampin' dimensionals, white organdy ribbon.
